Nursery at Garda Westmanstown Gaels GAA Club

Welcome to the Nursery Section of Garda Westmanstown Gaels. Our objective is to bring GAA skills to the children of Westmanstown Gaels in a fun and safe environment.

The nursery is led by our Games Promotion Officer, Declan Jennings and Club member Geraldine Culloty. Since it's establishment in 2004 the nursery has continued to thrive on the work done by Declan in the local schools spreading Gaelic Games to our diverse community.

GAA Nursery is every Saturday morning 10-11.30am for children aged 5 - 7 years on the all weather pitches at Westmanstown.  We also cater for 4 year old boys and girls in our Fun for 4s pre-nursery. The use of the all weather surface allows our youngest members to keep learning and developing their skills whatever the weather throws at us.

Children are broken up into groups according to their age in accordance with GAA rules.

All our volunteer coaches are members of the GAA club, are Garda vetted and have attained at a minimum, GAA Foundation level and Child Protection awards.

We encourage parents to watch all sessions and assist in coaching as they develop.

Children need to bring a drink  and wear clothes suitable for sport.

Events for Nursery children during the year  - Easter and Summer GAA Camps, Sports Day & Barbeque, Halloween dress up and Christmas Party.

New members are always welcome

In 2022 we completed the installation of our ball wall. A fantastic amenity that will ensure our youth teams have the best opportunity to practice their ball skills throughout the year on the synthetic surface, floodlight facility.

CLUB AND CUL CAMPS

Garda Westmanstown Gaels is an active participant in the Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps for boys and girls aged between 5 and 13 years.  These camps are a great success providing an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity. The Camps are focussed on maximising enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games.

Garda Westmanstown Gaels also run our own Club Easter and Summer camps for children from 5 to 13 years of age.

Attendance is open to primary school children aged 5 years to 13 years and more information is available from our Games Promotion Officer, Declan Jennings on 085 800 6101.

Activities are GAME BASED with a strong emphasis placed on skill acquisition.

They are organised in an age appropriate manner with a view to:

- optimising learning.

- enhancing friendships.

- improving physical and psychological well being.

- promoting school and club links.

The camps are structured so that a different aspect of the game is worked on each day.

The programme involves coaching specific skills of the game creating the opportunity for children to put into practice what they have learned through small sided games.

On the last day of the camp a number of age and skill appropriate fun games will be organised to allow the children to demonstrate what they have learnt during the camp.

People arriving on the first day without an advance booking will be accommodated if possible, however we strongly recommend that you pre register as previous camps have sold out in advance.
