Update from the Chairman   06/04/2020

Dear Member,

In this time of great uncertainty and challenge I would like to extend mine and the clubs support to you all.

As you will be aware, in line with the official GAA communications, the club and its grounds are closed and out of bounds for the foreseeable future.

We will continue to be guided by the GAA and the advice from the HSE and central Government. In line with the directive from the GAA all training, matches and social events associated with the club up to the 5th of May 2020 have been cancelled.  Regrettably the Easter Camp is also cancelled. Refunds of fees paid for the camp have been processed will be returned over the coming weeks.

Unfortunately, due to the planning involved the girls and boys Feile na nGael and Feile Peil have been postponed by the county board.  However, they hope to reschedule these later in the year.  The National Camogie feile in June, which we were due to host, has been cancelled. As the central advice changes, we will update you.

It is important at this time that you stay safe, connected and active. There are plenty of fun GAA challenges that you can do from home, and many of our coaches have provided drills and skill tests that suit juveniles to adults – thank you.

Our GPO, Declan Jennings has published some training drills and fun activities to keep our teams engaged. We encourage you to share these with the kids and take on the challenges with them. We ask that you share some photos of your creative ideas and kids training.

The Club Executive is in regular communication to ensure club structures, facilities and finances are maintained. Our aim is to be ready for a speedy return to play when this crisis passes.

As we, and in particular the most vulnerable members of our community face this very serious health issue let’s do so together as a club. In the meantime, let’s come together stronger than we ever have before and play our part to beat this virus. I urge everyone, young and old, to do their bit to slow the spread of this disease. Please remember to wash your hands properly and practice physical distancing.

We would like to congratulate and offer our gratuity and support to all healthcare staff, medical personnel and community services, including the Garda. Members of each discipline are represented within our club and we appreciate their hard work to protect us at this time.

Stay safe and stay in touch.
